Invitation To Youth of Monmouth Presbytery To Join MOSAIC Interfaith Program

This year will be the 8th year of the Garden State MOSAIC youth interfaith program, which usually has from 30-60 participants. MOSAIC was created by the Monmouth County Human Relations Commission (MCHRC) and the Monmouth Center for World Religions and Ethical Thought (MCWRET, . ) Joe Ritacco, of the Monmouth Presbytery Mission Working Group and Elder from the Matawan Presbyterian Church, is a Board member of the MCWRET and one of the co-founders of MOSAIC.

MOSAIC is a free, multi-faith educational and leadership program that is and the open to students from grades 8-12. This year meetings will be online using Zoom. This eliminates the need to travel to different houses of worship and eliminates geographic constraints. This year’s program will include an intentional focus on issues of race. Students can earn volunteer service hours attending meetings and participating in service projects.

MOSAIC meetings are roughly two Sunday afternoons per month, usually starting about 3:30. The target date for applications has been extended to give more time to recruit from specific traditions, including Protestant denominations. The kickoff meeting is scheduled for Sunday Nov.22. Even if you or your youth group cannot attend most meetings, get on the MOSAIC email list so that you can attend as you are able and if there is interest in the focus of the meeting.
